The PSE Operator Group consists of PSE Operator as the dominant entity (parent company) and eight subsidiaries in which PSE Operator holds a 100 percent share and three indirect subsidiaries with foreign equity.

Area Companies

PSE-Centrum S.A., PSE-Północ S.A., PSE-Południe S.A., PSE-Wschód S.A. and PSE-Zachód S.A. The companies provide service to PSE Operator related to the maintenance of the transmission grid, the Polish Power System operation management, and new investment projects.

Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne - INFO Sp. z o.o.

The company provides services to PSE Operator S.A. and is specialised in telecommunications and information technology.

EPC S.A.

In 2008, a full package of the company's shares was purchased by PSE Operator, and consequently EPC joined the power transmission system operator's group of companies. EPC has been operating in the power market for 13 years. Its core business areas include: System Analyses (technical calculations for the evaluation of the national power grid operation, work involved in the assessment of economic viability of grid investments, performing multiple-variant grid infrastructure development analyses) and Grid Infrastructure Analyses (analyses, studies, opinions, expert reports and surveys on the construction, upgrading and maintenance of grid infrastructure and power system communication infrastructure, as well as investment process supporting work, concepts and procedures relating to the maintenance of grid).

LitPol Link Sp. z o.o.

In 2008, an agreement was made between PSE Operator and Ljetuvos Energija on the integration of the power systems of Poland and Lithuania. In the agreement, the operators undertook to establish an SPV based in Warsaw, responsible for the preparation of the initial stage of the cross-border interconnection. In implementing the initial stage of the power bridge project between Poland and Lithuania, LitPol Link Sp. z o.o. (PSE Operator holds a 50% stake in the share capital of the company)
is preparing all kind of analyses and studies, and is required to obtain permits necessary for the
implementation of the project. As a result of the company’s activities, arrangements will be made concerning the final route, cost and financing of the project, as well as a model of the interconnection operation in the future. The power bridge between Poland and Lithuania will be a strategic infrastructural project for the improvement of the energy security of the country.

CAO Central Allocation Office GmbH

In 2008, eight transmission system operators: Verbund – Austrian Power Grid AG, ČEPS a.s., Electro-Slovenija d.o.o., E.ON Netz GmbH, MAVIR Hungarian TSO Company Ltd., PSE Operator S.A., ©EPS a.s. and Vattenfall Europe Transmission GmbH, signed the founding act of the company CAO Central Allocation Office GmbH – a common Auction Office for the CEE area. PSE Operator took a 12.5% stake in the share capital of the company. CAO Central Allocation Office GmbH is based in Freising, Germany. In order to accelerate the creation of an internal electricity market, the Auction Office will implement coordinated mechanisms for congestion management in the CEE area. The company will be responsible for making yearly, monthly and daily transmission capacity available for cross-border exchange, and for settlements.

The allocation process will be based on the methodology of real electricity flow in order to ensure a more detailed relationship between physical flows related to the utilisation of transmission capacity. The new company will assume responsibility for the management of the processes that have so far been based on multilateral and bilateral commitments, aiming at ensuring as effective utilisation of the available crossborder transmission capacity as possible. The implementation of the new allocation mechanism will be preceded by tests involving the market participants.

Center for Advanced Technology Applications (CATA)

In 2008, the Polish-American Center for Advanced Technology Applications (CATA) was established as a limited-liability company (Centrum Zastosowań zaawansowanych Technologii Sp. z o.o.). The company’s shareholders are PSE Operator (49% share) and two American companies: Horizon Energy Group LLC and EnerNex Corporation. The objective of the company is to carry on the business of implementing research and development projects in the power system and supporting PSE-Operator in the practical application of the projects in the management of the power system.
